The Oklahoma Heart Hospital wanted to expand its successful model to other markets outside the United States and in 2015 partnered with PreferUS and several other prominent institutions to see if it could help China grow its high-end medical services. Dr. John Harvey is a practicing Interventional Cardiologist and the CEO of the Oklahoma Heart Hospital. He attended Medical School at the University of Oklahoma and completed his Cardiology training at Harvard University in Boston, where he was active in research involving invasive cardiac procedures. He wrote the first research paper linking patent foramen ovale (PFD) to stroke risk. After completing his training, he joined the faculty of the University of Oklahoma as the director of Interventional Cardiology there. After 4 years, Dr. Harvey went into private practice and founded a cardiology group that has grown from 2 physicians to 90 physicians over the last 25 years. In 2002, he developed a heart specialty hospital, the Oklahoma Heart Hospital. Since 2002, a second Heart Hospital was added, and the enterprise now is one of the 10 largest cardiac programs in the United States. In addition to providing high volume, high quality cardiac care, it has particularly excelled in patient satisfaction, ranking in most years as the highest patient satisfaction hospital in the United States.
